Ukraine Leads Global Crypto Adoption Rankings in 2025, Chainalysis Reports

Ukraine has emerged as the world leader in cryptocurrency adoption relative to population size, according to a 2025 global ranking by blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis. The country secured first place in the population-adjusted index and eighth overall, reflecting widespread retail and institutional crypto activity.

The APAC region demonstrated the fastest growth in digital asset adoption, while India claimed the top spot in Chainalysis' overall index. The study evaluated 151 countries across multiple metrics including centralized exchange usage, DeFi participation, and institutional crypto activity.

Eastern European nations Moldova and Georgia followed closely behind Ukraine in the rankings. Analysts attribute the region's strong showing to economic instability, distrust of traditional finance, and high technical literacy - factors driving crypto adoption for wealth preservation and cross-border transactions.

This development comes as Ukraine's parliament advances cryptocurrency legislation, having approved a draft law on digital assets in September 2025. The regulatory progress appears to be accelerating mainstream adoption in the country.
